News Flash: HRT & Dementia

Pretty Ripe | Volume 42 - News Flash HRT & Dementia - Hormone Replacement Therapy

This is big news: Hormone replacement therapy or HRT does NOT increase the risk of dementia, according to a brand new study. (Almost two-thirds of people afflicted with Alzheimer's are women.) Prior research has cautioned women against HRT for various reasons (legit and questionable) and the takeaway here is that science is finally acknowledging that we DESERVE more studies on perimenopause and how to get relief from symptoms. Also, this is a fascinating interview with neurologist Dr. Richard Isaacson at Weill Cornell Medicine about his newfound attitude toward HRT--and how it may even prevent dementia in certain women. Let's empower ourselves with knowledge and pass it on.
