Still Binge Eating After 40?

Sometimes, it feels like I need to fill every square inch of my insides with food. My appetite is irrelevant. I can't get "full." Turns out I'm not alone. It's a little known fact that women in midlife suffer from eating disorders and perimenopause makes us more vulnerable to binge eating because of our hormone fluctuations. In fact, 13% of women over 50 struggle with it. What do I do when I start circling the snack cabinet like a great white? I take a walk or call a friend. (You can't carry a sheet pan of homemade nachos on a stroll or talk with your mouth full of M&M's.) My condition is manageable, thankfully. If you're battling a serious eating disorder that's disrupting your life, seek out help through NEDA, the National Eating Disorder Association. There's a hotline too.
