Rosemary Oil for Thinning Hair?

One morning, you wake up and your part looks wider. Or maybe you notice the hair around your temples is sparser. Understandably, you freak out--but you're not alone. Hair loss affects one in three women. Your hair growth rate slows as you age and the haywire hormone levels of perimenopause don't help either. Pretty Ripe will be hosting an in-depth panel on hair loss next month, but today we're looking at the efficacy of rosemary oil to spur growth.
How it works: This stimulating oil promotes blood flow in the scalp, which can boost the health and production of hair follicles. Rosemary oil also contains carnosic acid, which alleviates irritation.
What's the science behind the claim: Studies have shown that rosemary oil can be as effective as Minoxidil in promoting hair growth over six months; also it helped mice grow hair.
When and how to use it: Add five drops to a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut or olive oil and massage into your scalp. You can add the drops to your shampoo, but dermatologists say it's less effective than direct application.
Where to get it: You can buy rosemary oil at most health stores -- this brand is legit.
